The People Behind Every Good Bite.

Food is easy to experience as a finished product. We see the package on the shelf, the meal on the plate, the ingredients listed on the label.

What we don’t see as easily are the people and decisions behind it.

Every bite connects a much larger system: farmers deciding how to manage land and animals, companies choosing where and how to source, researchers measuring what changes, brands creating demand, retailers deciding what earns space on the shelf, and chefs turning those ingredients into something people want to eat.

Those decisions shape what food becomes and what the market ultimately rewards.

That is one reason relationships matter so much in food and agriculture. The work is highly interconnected, but the people doing it are often separated by different parts of the value chain. Farmers talk to farmers. Brands talk to brands. Retailers, researchers, investors, nonprofits and service providers tend to operate within their own worlds.

Yet many of the changes happening across food right now require those worlds to come together.

At Socha, we think a lot about how better food grows in the market. But markets are ultimately built by people: people who share information, challenge assumptions, create new partnerships and find ways to make something possible that wasn’t possible alone.

That was the idea behind our second annual Regenerative After Hours gathering in Denver. We brought together people working across food and agriculture not for another panel or presentation, but simply to give them more opportunities to know one another.

Because behind every better farming practice, stronger supply chain, more meaningful product and good bite is a group of people making decisions about what deserves to exist and what comes next.

They are the people behind every good bite.

And building a better food system depends on more of them finding each other.
